The use of containers has developed so far,

and has expanded from transportation carriers to building materials.

But in addition to the available facilities like houses or shopping malls,

the structural beauty of shipping containers has also attracted architectural sculptures.

Renowned Canadian architects Studio AC found its

unique aesthetic beauty in its more sculptural forms, designing individual solutions

based on the supporting structural properties of the material itself in a particular orientation.

The highly hollowed-out urban sculpture,

titled Stackt Summer, is located in the yard of Stacks Market,

on the same site as downtown Toronto's shops, restaurants

and service centres, and consists entirely of shipping containers.

The sculpture covers an area of 33.4 square meters

and its structure is part of DesignTO, Canada's largest annual design festival.

It can be seen that the urban sculpture only leaves the skeleton frame of the container

as the structural frame of the building, removing all wave panels.

The middle part is composed of industrial grating panels,

and several divided panels are bolted together, enabling on-site assembly operations without cutting.

The idea for this "summer stacking" was to create a summer abstract object in a cold winter courtyard,

using orientation, color, texture and lighting to generate a visual warmth.

Once created, this yellow skeleton visually adds the concept of summer to winter.

Inside the sculpture, green artificial turf has been added to the "floor",

and a floating sculpture suspended in mid-air consists of a series of Muskoka chairs

that are symbolic elements of the area's relaxation in the warm summer months.
